Vyopta Users Roles and Permissions

Vyopta has five roles available to end users. The table below displays the Vyopta category and tasks associated to each.

  • Professional: Choose this role when the end user is the main point of contact with Vyopta and has all available privileges. Generally used by MSP users.
  • Administrator: Choose this role when the end user needs to have full privileges in your environment.
  • vAnalytics Analyst: Choose this role when the end user needs the full core functionality of Vyopta’s solutions, but not the ability to configure the Vyopta environment.
  • vAnalytics Reader: Choose this role when the end user needs only to consume monitoring and alerts datasets and dashboards, but is ok with not being able to configure alerts or reports.
  • Strict Dashboard Viewer: Choose this role when the end user should only be able to consume exactly what an admin pre-populates on dashboards for them. *This is a new role that is intended to provide organizations with an option for users to access Vyopta on a strictly consumption basis viewing only dashboards that are prepared for users. This role prohibits access to all datasets - including click-throughs from dashboards. The best way to implement this role is to have an admin share relevant dashboards to that user for them to consume prior to that user logging in given the role prevents and dashboard creation. The Strict Dashboard Viewer role is most comparable to the vAnalytics Reader role but where the two differ is that the Strict Dashboard Viewer can only consume dashboards and has no ability to create or update any dashboards where the vAnalytics Reader role can do some creating and updating of dashboards while also accessing datasets.
