Not Able to See Data for a Piece of Infrastructure

Question

I have recently added a piece of infrastructure in Vyopta and I am unable to see the results of adding the device. Is there something wrong?

Answer

One of the common things that our new customers run into is setting up a device for monitoring only to discover monitoring is not enabled on the device. In the below screenshot, you will see two devices (ISDN Gateway and Production TCS) that have not been enabled. If they are not enabled, the Data Collector will not collect data for processing in Tech Insights Monitoring and Tech Insights Analytics.

An easy way to enable collection is to log into the Admin Portal and select the Infrastructure tab. Here, you can verify if collection is available. If we wanted to enable the Production TCS as shown below, click the 'Edit' (pencil icon) button. Once on the 'Edit' screen, flip the 'Disabled' toggle to the 'Enabled' position. At this point, you will be prompted to confirm that you want the piece of infrastructure enabled. Click 'OK' to enable it.

Just a reminder, if you start collecting data for a device, it may take up to 48 hours before data starts to show up in Tech Insights Analytics, since we only process historical data once a day during the overnight hours for your organization.

If you need to stop Vyopta from gathering data from a system, you can do so by logging into the Admin Portal and selecting the Infrastructure tab. Here, you can find the system you want to disable by searching for its name, or the edit button. At the top of the screen, click on the slider button to enable the collections again. The system will now show that it is enabled both on the system screen and in the infrastructure list.
